CEREC DENTISTRY

- CEREC dentistry produces high-quality ceramic dental fillings, veneers, inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges, in ONE dental visit.
- CEREC crowns do not give the traditional gumline appearance that so many people have with old metal-porcelain crowns.
- CEREC is a sophisticated computer-aided system for producing durable ceramic restorations.

Using the following steps:
- We take a digital impression of the prepared tooth using an infrared camera.
- This digital impression is sent to a computer where it appears as a three-dimensional model.
- We design the crowns on this digital model, and send the information to the milling unit when we are satisfied with what we have created.
- The milling unit takes ten to twenty minutes to make the restoration, which is then bonded into the tooth, all on the same day.
- All CEREC restorations can also be characterized for optimum colour as on-site tints and glazes
There are several advantages to having these procedures done.
- Aesthetics – Porcelain is far more natural looking than composite resin
- Strength – guaranteeing greater longevity
- Single-visit ceramic restoration
- Healthy tooth structure –CEREC restorations are an ideal alternative to potentially short-lived composite-resin fillings or full-coverage crowns, which usually result in removal of greater amounts of natural healthy tooth structure.
AESTHETIC DENTISTRY
Your smile can affect both your business and personal relationships. Having a smile you can be proud of can also increase your own self-confidence and make you feel better about yourself and the way you look, which impacts all areas of your life. Aesthetic dentistry allows dentists to improve the overall appearance of a person's smile and help him or her look and feel their best.
We offer a wide variety of aesthetic procedures to help you achieve the smile you've always dreamed of. Here are a few available at our dental offices that can be used to restore a smile.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded over the top of existing teeth. They can be used on discoloured, chipped, or misshapen teeth, and require minimal preparation of the natural tooth for placement.
When patients have crowns placed, they may notice gum recession around the crown that can appear to be unattractive and unsightly for many, especially when it is on the frontal teeth. We can remove the old crown and place another one to help cover and disguise this area of the gums.
Whitening teeth with bleaching gel is one way for patients to experience a transformation in their smile. Dull and discoloured teeth can benefit from an in-office whitening treatment that uses a specialised light to activate the whitening gel. Treatment takes approximately one hour and allows patients to rejuvenate their smile quickly and easily with professional assistance.

ORAL HYGIENE
BIOLASE (Epic laser) - TOOTH WHITENING

Whitening is one of the most sought-after cosmetic improvements that patients seek. With a variety of retail and take-home products available, none can achieve the results and immediate impact of in-office whitening.
It is advisable that a good check-up and cleaning is done before a bleaching to ensure that the procedure can be done safely
Research has shown that Epic lasers are capable of delivering 6-12 shades (varies from patient to patient) with less than 20 minutes of gel-to-tooth contact time. The laser energy from an Epic laser interacts with chromophores in the proprietary laser-activated gel to accelerate the in-office whitening procedure.
Please just keep in mind:
- Only natural tooth structure will bleach. The process will not make a difference in the color of crowns, bridges or tooth colored fillings.
- The effect of bleaching is different in each person. The severity of the discoloration will also affect the amount of bleaching needed to reach the desired result at own cost as more than one bleaching session might be needed to get to your desired result.
- Bleaching needs to be done before any fillings or crown- and bridgework are done. Especially in the front of the mouth. The teeth will become a few shades lighter and your dentist needs to match the color of his work to the new improved shade.
- Please remember that this procedure is completely safe. The products used are of the highest quality and you are guided through the whole process by trained professionals.

IMPORTANCE OF ORAL HYGIENE
Oral hygiene is incredibly important to keep problems such as gum disease from occurring. Gum disease is a serious problem that occurs in many patients that they may not be aware of. It starts out as gingivitis, which can cause the gums to bleed and become red and inflamed. A typical sign of the development of gum disease is the bleeding of the gums during brushing and flossing. If not addressed early on, it can continue to progress and develop into more severe periodontal disease, in which pockets form between the gums and teeth to allow even more bacteria and plaque to develop. Eventually, if not diagnosed and treated, gum disease can result in bone loss, gum recession and the loss of natural teeth. Treatment is key to preventing periodontal disease, as are regular dental appointments. Daily brushing and flossing can also help patients, both young and old, maintain a beautiful, healthy smile between visits to their dental office, and can ensure that gum disease does not develop.
Our oral hygienist is specialised in taking care of all aspects your oral hygiene. Along with regular check-ups, a regular hygiene appointment can make all the difference to your long-term oral health.
Opalescence TOOTH WHITENING

We are glad to be able to inform you of this exciting new development in dentistry.
It is advisable that a good check-up and cleaning is done before a bleaching to ensure that the procedure can be done safely. During the cleaning appointment a moulds will be taken of the upper and lower teeth. These moulds are used to make custom-made trays to hold a special gel that you will use for home bleaching. Your oral hygienist will explain this process to you thoroughly.
We will then make a 90 minute appointment with you to do an in-surgery bleaching using the Opalescence BOOST system containing 40% hydrogen peroxide. This step is designed to set the bleaching process in motion and continues on for 24hrs after you have left the surgery. Do not expect a big change after this appointment. This first step is only to “kick start” the process. With your home care routine you will see a gradual change over the course of 2-3 weeks.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
- Only natural tooth structure will bleach. The process will not make a difference in the colour of crowns, bridges or tooth coloured fillings.
- The effect of bleaching is different in each person. The severity of the discoloration will also affect the time spent to reach the desired result. Your oral hygienist will guide you through the process by seeing you every 7 – 10 days during home bleaching to adapt it to your requirements.
- Bleaching needs to be done before any fillings or crown- and bridgework are done. Especially in the front of the mouth. The teeth will become a few shades lighter and your dentist needs to match the colour of his work to the new improved shade.
- Please remember that this procedure is completely safe. The products used are of the highest quality and you are guided through the whole process by trained professionals.

SEDATION FOR NERVOUS PATIENTS
It's not unusual for patients to be anxious, nervous or even fearful of the dentist's chair. Patients who need to relax and feel comfortable.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedatives are often used for longer and more extensive procedures. Medication is taken (as a pill) approximately 30 minutes before the patient's arrival, and allows the patient to be relaxed although conscious. A friend, who will drive the patient home where they will sleep and wake up with no memory of the appointment, should accompany the patient. When oral sedation is administered, patients must arrange transportation to and from the appointment.
Intravenous Sedation
IV sedation can be used for a heavier conscious sedation during procedures when necessary. Treatment is administered intravenously, and the patient's vitals will be monitored closely during this form of sedation.
Sedation can be used for a number of other situations to help make dental treatment easier. Patients who have a strong gag reflex can benefit from sedation, as can those who may have disorders that can cause twitches or unexpected movements during treatment. During the initial consultation, sedation dentistry will be discussed in order to ensure the comfort and ease of the patient.
Call today for a consultation appointment to find out more about sedation dentistry and how it can help you get the dental care you need and deserve!
